Subject: School Uniforms Audience: The Principal of Francis Lewis high school Purpose: Persuade the audience why our school needs school uniforms Speaker: High school student As a high school student of Francis Lewis, I believe that our school should enforce the use of school uniforms. School uniforms offer great benefits, such as increase safety within our community. According to Dona Riley, an expert in the study of schools and students, the result of school uniform requirement led to a decrease in fights by  “51 percent in grades K-8." (Riley, pg 1) Furthermore, uniforms can reduce the amount of nonacademic distractions in our school. My name is Lucy and I am a grade 11 student currently attending Francis Lewis High School.  In this blog, I am going to tell you a little bit about my background, interests, and my goals.   I was born in Flushing, New York and I grew up surrounded by people of different ethnicity. I live with my mother, father, grandfather, and my little brother. My grandma and great grandma live with my extended family back in China. Since I grew up in a Chinese neighborhood my entire life, I am not used to going to places where there are no people of my race. I have an interest in animals such as dogs,cats, and hamsters. I also spend most of my free time with my friends. I shop, cook, study, and even exercise with my friends. Additionally, I like to watch informational videos on YouTube which are usually about interesting historical facts or new inventions. I want to travel to new places when I get a stable job.
