My Thoughts on the AP Exam
There were a lot of people taking the AP English exam and there were a lot of people coming in late. As a result, it took the proctor forever to get ready. Just like everyone else, I had to very little space for my exam papers because the desks were extremely tiny, therefore, I had to put stuff on my lap. I did really like the test-taking environment because people outside of the gym would often open the door, which I found to be quite distracting. Although the environment wasn't the most ideal, I was still able to complete my exam on time.
I felt that the essay questions were not very hard but easy either. I wrote about the pros of the topic for the synthesis essay, which I found to be a bit hard to do because documents for the pro side were a bit repetitive. I also didn't really like the rhetorical essay because I had to use rhetorical devices that I don't normally use. Out of all the essays, the argumentative essay was my favorite because the topic was quite simple and I had many arguments to support my position.

I'm really not a big fan of the desks used for the AP exams because of how small it is. And I rather not place the papers on my lap because of how uncomfortable it can feel, so I had to resort to straining my back and neck just to read and write. On the bright side, I felt that the essay questions were fair given that I was actually able to write something without being stuck. In terms of which essay I liked the most, I would say that I liked them all equally because the topics presented were each pretty interesting to me.
ReplyDeletei agree with you. i feel that the desk was a bit small and it took awfully long to begin. i feel that the synthesis essay have way too much information for one side and barely for the other
ReplyDeleteHEHE, I came in mad late, sorryyyy. I wanted to finish breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI can relate with the rhetorical essay. It kind of difficult to explain how repetition creates emphasis in a whole paragraph without it sounding repetitive. The argumentative essay was easier than expected for me as well and I felt like it was easier than all of the ones we did in class.
I also didn't like how small the desks were. It was hard to work with such little space given. On the bright side, the chairs had small cushions which made it slightly comfy. I also agree that the multiple choice questions were not hard, but not easy either, and same, I wasn't so fond of the rhetorical analysis essay either.
ReplyDeleteI hate how those desks only have room for like a single sheet of paper. It's good that you found the exam to be easy.
ReplyDeleteOMG those tiny desks gave me leg and back pain. I mean why can't we just be in classrooms with proportional size tables and chairs to our bodies. I also wrote for the pros for the essays and I finished realizing that their were more con articles even though I outlined my essay. The 18th century passage had one page of questions, but it reading it was like gibberish.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point of view for the synthesis essay. i picked pro because i believe the first doc. supported it, but then i became repetitive because there wasn't much to write about.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty annoying waiting for everyone to settle down especially because I was anxious to start the test. There was little to no room on the desk and I ended up dropping items on the floor and embarrassing myself just to pick them up. But I’d have to agree that the test was better than expected.
